  • #463 – WW1 German M-17 Camouflaged Souvenired Steel Combat Helmet (Лот: 12209)

WW1 German M-17 Camouflaged Souvenired Steel Combat Helmet, being a fine M-16 helmet shell which has much of its original 1918 directive camouflage paint finish in green and browns with black separation lines. The helmet has been souvenired by an allied soldier who has captured the helmet by adding a brass Prussian other ranks helmet plate to the front and a brass other ranks spike to the top, making the helmet resemble the famous pickelhaube. Interior of the shell is the M-17 liner band but no liner pads. Helmet has a later chinstrap added by a collector. Over the years we have seen similar items done and at one time even a picture of a group of US Doughboy’s who had done this same thing to a captured German helmet.
