Graf Zeppelin and Hindenburg Butter Dishes, one (13.5 cms. diam.) with cover and wooden knob and a smaller (11.5 cms. diam.) open Butter Dish as used on the Graf Zeppelin and Hindenburg. Both stamped beneath base with ‘Zeppelin’ under an airship. Previously part of the David Kirsch Collection.

#205 – Zeppelin L.31 Souvenir Napkin Rings (Лот: 6108)
Zeppelin L.31 Souvenir Napkin Rings, 5cm diameter x 2 ½ cms wide, from the Zeppelin L.31 shot down by Lieut. V. Tempest on 2nd October 1916 over Potters Bar. Each ring is finely engraved ‘L 31’ and these are numbered ‘1’, ‘2’ and ‘4’. L.31 took part in the multi-Zeppelin raid of 23/24th Sept 1916 being the only airship to return to Germany unharmed, but was destroyed less than two weeks later. Originally part of the David Kirsch Collection.

#207 – ‘Jock’ Armstrong’s Cardington Airship Souvenirs (Лот: 6110)
‘Jock’ Armstrong’s Cardington Airship Souvenirs, including three wire bottle screws, 22 fabric needles, photo postcards include the rigging and sewing crews (Armstrong is identified) and one of the ‘Air Staff’, rather ominously with skull and crossbones. Five photos of the R101 including one of the inserted extra gas bag in August 1930. Five photos/cards of the R100 at the mast, its gas bags and dining room, three of the R33, two of the Cardington sheds 1928 construction, the Graf Zeppelin at Cardington and one of the coffins laid in the mass grave at Cardington 11th October 1930 (26 photos/cards). A memorial card to those who died in the R101 disaster with Armstrong’s hand-written list of ‘Survivors, saved from the crash’. The postcards showing some wear. RAF 1938 civilian pass, four later photos. (57 items) Vendor advises that these items were from the estate of Jospeh ‘Jock’ Armstrong of Shortstown, a rigger at RAW Cardington, via the family.

Large format (26 x 36.5 cm.) containing detailed drawings of wire and fittings including part nos., breaking loads, tensile strengths etc. A rare original R101 item from Cardington, paper secured by three original brass fasteners, with minor edge chipping. 2x Airship R.101 Menu Cards, dated 6 November 1929 for Luncheon and Wine List, hand typed. Prepared for the Conference on Dominion Legislation members after they toured the R.101 at Cardington. According to the Times (7 Nov 1929), the health of the R101 was proposed by Mr. Ernest Lapointe, Minister of Justice for Canada. Previously part of the David Kirsch Collection.
