Аукцион завершенМинимальная цена продажи 1 000 $ не достигнутаUS CIVIL WAR PEREIOD UNION OFFICER FORAGE CAP W/ CORPS BADE, a blue doeskin 6′ tall in rear & 5′ tall in front & the top diameter is 5 ¼’, a black patent leather visor which extends 1 ¾’ & a matching chin-strap w/ Massachusetts side-buttons, on front is a blue doeskin oval 2 ¼’ wide w/ gold bullion wreath & ‘US’ in silver bullion, sewn on its top is a 2′ x 2′ 5th Corps badge in red cloth w/ 9th Regiment in brass in the very center (the 5th Corps was hard fought ay Gettysburg), inside is a dark polished cotton lining along w/ a 2′ wide dark leather sweatband, this has a lot of moth damage but still has a great look in my eyes,

On the 1911 Census he is a medical student. We have been unable to confirm when he enlisted but his promotion to Captain in the West Riding Field Ambulance is confirmed in the London Gazette of 22nd September 1915. Promotion to Acting Major was confirmed in the London Gazette of 20th April 1918 and he relinquished has Acting rank in the Gazette of 24th July 1919.etween the wars he worked as a General Practitioner in the town of Uttoxeter, Staffordshire and on the outbreak of war in 1939 he was confirmed as a Major in the Royal Army Medical Corps from the Territorial Reserve of Officers (L.G. 8th November 1939). n September 1943 Lieutenant Colonel Hartas Foxton M.B, Ch.B. was on board the hospital ship H.M.H.S. Newfoundland, 1 of 3 hospital ships supporting the Salerno landings. Following several near misses on 12th September, it was decided to anchor the ships 40 nautical miles offshore for safety overnight. Despite being fully illuminated and marked with Red Cross markings, at 5am on 13th September Newfoundland was struck by a Henschel Hs293 air-launched glide bomb dropped by a Dornier bomber of KG100. The ship caught fire and after 36 hours was towed further out to sea and scuttled. At the time of the attack the ship was carrying 2 patients and 32 crew and 6 Medical Officers, including Lt Col. Foxton, and 6 Staff Nurses were killed during the attack.ieutenant Colonel Hartas Foxton is commemorated on the Brookwood 1939-1945 Memorial, Surrey.

Gold painted fittings to the hilt with panther head having small jewelled eyes. Housed in repainted black steel scabbard with single hanging ring. Polished slightly curved blade with retailers stamp to the base under the langet. The blade measures 80 ½ cms, overall 99cms.

By 1911 he was a Sea Apprentice with the Marine Society being based on T.S. Warspite at Greenhithe, Kent. He enrolled for the Royal Naval Reserve on 11th October 1915, he served on the Trawler Gwenllian operating out of Port Said from 30th September 1917 through to 2nd April 1918 and was demobilised in March 1919.ames Martin is believed to be the older brother of William and her served in South Africa with 1st Volunteer Company Royal Sussex Regiment. He is confirmed on the medal rolls for the 3 clasps present on this medal and is also entitled to the Belmont clasp. He died of enteric fever at Bloemfontein on 19th March 1901.

Black celluloid grip with wire binding intact. Underside of the cross guard is stamped ‘GES GESCH’. Housed in its blackened scabbard. Polished slightly curved blade which is stamped ‘No3’ to obverse under the cross guard and reverse has the makers trademark. Blade 83 ½ cms, overall 102cms.

He commenced his service in the Royal Navy on 20th December 1899 as a Boy 2nd Class on H.M.S. Vincent. In February 1913 he transferred to the Coastguard service at Harwich. As war loomed he was sent to H.M.S. Hogue on 1st August 1914 and was still serving on board when she was sunk on by the U-9 on 22nd September 1914 with her sister ships Aboukir and Cressy. Hogue lost 377 men. Goldsmith served on H.M.S. Iris from 26th July 1915 to 30th June 1919 and was awarded his Long Service medal on 13th October 1917. He was discharged 1st April 1919. On the outbreak of war in 1914 he was serving on HMS Agamemnon, the vessel that he spent most of the war onboard and would have present when the ship was credited with shooting down the Zeppelin L.Z. 55 in Salonica on 5th May 1916. His service record indicates he served on HMS Redbreast between 18th February 1917 and 14th July 1917, but he must have spent other time on the Q-ship as his DSM was awarded for his service when Redbreast attacked the German submarine U31 on 16th July 1916. Lieutenant G.S. Brown was awarded a Distinguished Service Cross for this action and asked to recommend 2 members of the crew for this action, Lance Corporal Emmett and Leading Stoker John Duncan.1 year later, on 15th July 1917, HMS Redbreast was sunk by the German submarine UC38 in the Aegean Sea with the loss of 42 members of her crew, according to his service record Robert Emmett had left Redbreast the day before on 14th July, returning to Agamemnon. emobilised on 22nd March 1919 he then joined the Royal Fleet Reserve being discharged on 15th December 1924.
