WW1 German M-1910 Hessen / Bremen Artillery & Technical Troops Officers Peaked Cap, good stiff top officers peaked cap with field grey top, black velvet central band having red piped border and red piping to the crown. Painted officers state cockade and officers pattern Reichs cockade. Interior with light tan leather sweatband and officers artificial silk lining. Some wear and shredding to the lining and scuffs to sweatband. Small areas of moth to the piping but otherwise a good untouched example. The state of Hesse had only two Artillery regiments during WW1, so items of headdress to these units is scarce.

1889 Pattern Staff Sergeants Sword for the Royal Army Medical Corps, regulation polished blade stamped WILKINSON SWORD COMPANY LONDON with Board of Ordnance and government inspector’s stamps and issue stamp for 1891, regulation brass guard stamped 2. W.L.F.A. R.A.M.C. 4, wire bound fish skin covered grip, in its scabbard (minor dents) and 2 fixed suspension rings, stamped 2. W.L.F.A. R.A.M.C. 4 (the former initials party erased).Good condition, blade retains nearly all original finish.

Imperial German Prussian Land Gendarmerie 1867 Other Ranks Pickelhaube, good example of the early pattern Imperial German pickelhaube with larger form and square dip peak. Helmet has the brass front trim, rear spine with rivet covers and cruciform spike base with plain domed rivets and larger spike. Helmet plate to the centre is the larger garde pattern with starburst to the centre of the helmet plate. Scaled leather backed chinstraps and other ranks state and reichs cockade, indicating being worn after the unification of Germany. Interior of the helmet retains the original leather liner system. Rear peak with inked regimental stampings and behind the plate is stamped ‘L.G 1902’. Overall a good example of an early pickelhaube which would have been worn up to the introduction of the later model 1895 which is associated more with WW1.

Scarce Confederate States of America (C.S.A) Cavalry Sword, slightly curved single edge blade cut with a single fuller on both sides an etched within those fullers ‘A POX ON YANKEES’ and ‘C. S. A.’, regulation brass hilt, sideguard pierced with flowering foliage and scrolls, one piece spiral carved horn grip, in its scabbard now covered with gold paint and with both suspension rings missing. Good condition, grip chipped at base, blade sharpened for field service.Blade 75.3cms.

Prussian eagle officers helmet plate without motto’s and with small silvered Prussian eagle to the lower section. Cruciform spike base with officers gilt metal securing stars and officers pattern spike. Helmet with officers pattern state and reichs cockades with scaled officers chinstraps. Helmet retains the original tan leather sweatband and part of the officers style cloth lining to the interior. Helmet shows some wear.

French Made Cavalry Troopers Sword Possibly for the Confederate Army in American Civil War, regulation single edge blade cut with single broad and single narrow fuller on both sides with small crowned C inspector’s stamp, regulation brass triple bar hilt with laurel in relief to pommel and geometric decoration to hilt bars, one piece horn grip (grip wire mostly missing). Good condition, age worn overall, blade lightly pitted, straightened crease to guard.Blade 89.5cms. The Confederacy ordered many weapons from manufacturers in France and other parts of Europe to equip their army during the American Civil War.

Helmet has officers type state and reichs pattern cockades which are supported by officers scaled chinstraps. Interior of the helmet has brown leather sweatband and brown cloth lining. The helmet shows some service wear but still generally a good example of an officers pickelhaube.

Brass front trim, rear spine, circular spike base with officers pattern securing stars and officers pattern spike. Officers reichs and state cockades supported by leather backed officers scaled chinstraps. Green leather to the underside of the front peak and red to the rear. Officers leather sweatband and cloth lining. Some staining to the shell and dulling to the fittings but generally still a good officers helmet.
