WW2 German Army Officers Dress Dagger by Alcoso, Solingen, interesting example which has been fitted with a black celluloid grip, only normally associated with the maker Robert Klaas, pommel top and high lift aluminium cross guard. Attached to the grip is officers bullion portepee / knot. Housed in its original scabbard with two hanging rings. Double edged blade with the makers trademark to the reverse. The blade measures 25cms, overall 40cms. Some wear but generally a good example.

Victorian Boer War Campaign Medal Pair to the Royal Army Medical Corps, Queens South Africa medal with 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill and Wittebergen, impressed naming, ‘6770 PTE. W. BUNFIELD R.A.M.C.’, Kings South Africa medal with 2 clasps, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902, ‘6770 PTE. W. BUNFIELD R.A.M.C.’ illiam Bunfield, a 19-year-old labourer from Swaffham, Norfolk, attested for service on 15th June 1885. He served for a total of 16 years and 353 days before his discharge on termination of his engagement on 2nd June 1902. He served in South Africa from 8th February 1900 to 28th May 1902 with the rest of his service being at home. Both medals and all clasps are confirmed on the rolls with the Queens medal being on the roll of the 20th Bearer Company, Royal Army Medical Corps.

Scarce Victorian Highland Borderers Light Infantry Militia Plaid Brooch, being a plated large circular plaid brooch with hollow centre, engraved decoration to the obverse, with applied circlet having ‘HIGHLAND BORDERERS’, with remains of a gilt wash to this. Reverse with a large pin and catch fitting. The Highland Borderers Light Infantry Militia (Stirling, Dumbarton, Clackmannan & Kinross) became 3rd Bn. Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders on Friday 1st July 1881.

WW2 German Army Officers Dagger with Hanging Straps by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, fine example with orange celluloid grip, top pommel with oakleaves relief, ferrule with oakleaves and cross guard in the form of army eagle. Housed in its original scabbard with an original set of brocade hanging straps attached with the original fittings having oakleaves relief. Good condition double edged blade with makers trademark to the base of the reverse. Much of the cross graining remains to the blade. Nice patina to the exterior fittings. Blade 25cms, overall 39 ½ cms.

EXC.

Victorian Boer War Campaign Medal Pair to the Rifle Brigade, Queens South Africa medal with 4 clasps, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, Laing’s Nek and Belfast, impressed naming, ‘343 PTE E SLATTER RIFLE BDE’, possible correction to service number, Kings South Africa medal with clasps South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902, ‘343 PTE E SLATTER RIFLE BRIGADE’, medals with contact marks. Lot also includes a South Africa 1900 gift tin, the base of the tin lightly engraved in a crude manner, ‘No.343 PTE ERNEST SLATTER, RIFLE BRIGADE K**** HILL, RECEIVED AT COLENSO, FEBRUARY 19TH 1900, NATAL’, part of inscription not legible, marked as ****. 21-year-old Ernest Slatter from Steventon in Berkshire attested for the Rifle Brigade in London on 12th November 1889. He saw service in East India, Hong Kong and Singapore before being transferred to the Reserve on 27th December 1897. Recalled for service on 13th November 1899 he served in South Africa for 2 years and 250 days before his discharge on 20th August 1902. He confirmed on the medal rolls for the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade and was awarded the Queens medal with these 4 clasps and the Kings medal with 2 clasps.

Queens Own Cameron Highlanders Officers Plaid Brooch, fine silver (not hallmarked) example with fine relief of thistles around Sphinx sitting on tablet with ‘EGYPT’ to centre, above battle honour PENINSULA and below battle honour WATERLOO. Reverse of the brooch has large pin fitting and heavy catch fixing. Makers mark for R & H B Kirkwood, Edinburgh. Fine quality example.
