Imperial German Model 1889 Blue Gilt and Damascus Presentation Sword for the War Academy Fusilier Artillery Regiment Nr3, superb quality example of a model 1898 sword with fine quality heavy relief in form of Prussian eagle to the hilt, knuckle guard with heavy relief of oakleaves, top pommel with oakleaves relief, top pommel engraved with initials ‘H Z’. Horn grip with wire binding and monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm II to the centre. Housed in steel parade scabbard with single brass band and single hanging ring. Fine blade with Damascus and blue gilt panels to both sides of the blade, etched with foliage pattern and presentation inscription ‘Ehrenpreis für hervorragende Leistungen auf der Kriegsakademie Fus Art. Reg. 3’, reverse with foliage pattern to the blue gilt panel. Edge also etched with blue gilt foliage pattern and ‘PAUL A HENCKELS, SOLINGEN’. The blade measures 78cms, overall 96cms. A superb example of a presentation model 1898 sword.

Queens South Africa Medal to the Royal Army Medical Corps, Killed in Action in 1917 During the Great War, medal without clasp, awarded to ‘8840 CORPL. S.J.A. LEE R.A.M.C.’ 18-year-old Sidney Jamed Arthur Lee, from Paddington London, attested at Aldershot on 12th July 1890. He served for a total of 11 years and 80 days which included 2 years and 65 days in Egypt (no medals) and 1 year and 110 days in South Africa. He was discharged medically unfit for further service on 15th October 1901. The medal roll shows service in No.14 Stationary Hospital and in Base Hospital Maritzburg, he is entitled to the Natal clasp with a later roll (05/01/1905) also showing entitlement to the South Africa 1901 clasp. He went on to serve in the Great War and 46544 Serjeant Major Sidney Arthur James Lee was killed in action on 7th June 1917 serving with 70th Field Ambulance and he is remembered at the Railway Dugouts Burial Ground (Transport Farm).

Victorian Campaign Medal Pair to the 7th Dragoon Guards for the 1882 Egypt Campaign, Egypt Medal 1882-89 with clasp Tel-el-Kebir, dated reverse, ‘2386 PTE. A POLLOCK 7/DN GDS’, contact marks over Regiment Khedive’s Star Medal, 1882 dated, unnamed as issued. 21-year-old Andrew Lindsey Pollock, a mineral borer from Linlithgow, Scotland attested for service in the 2nd Dragoon Guards at Edinburgh on 1 December 1876. On 9th June 1881 he transferred to the 7th Dragoon Guards and served in Egypt for 218 days between August 1882 and March 1883. His service record shows he was imprisoned between May and September 1885 but does not indicate why, he was eventually discharged at Canterbury on 1st December 1888 on termination of his period of engagement having served for 7 years and 225 days.

Fine partially single edged blade with etched panels of foliage, trophy of arms to both sides of the blade. Early WKC makers trademark to the base under the langet. The blade measures 84 ¼ cms, overall 99 ½ cms.

He joined the Royal Military College at Marlow at the age of 13 in 1808. Appointed Ensign 12th September, Lieutenant 2nd October 1813, Captain 21st April 1824, Major 23rd July 1832 and Lieutenant Colonel on 8th October 1839. He retired from the service on 7th February 1848.e is confirmed as present on the medal roll for the Poona clasp.

Queens South Africa Medal to Recipient in the Royal Army Medical Corps who also Served in the Imperial Light Horse, Queens South Africa medal with 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal, impressed naming, ‘14200 PTE. S.H. ROWSON, R.A.M.C.’, some edge knocks to initials of name. Samuel Hammond Rowson was a 21-year-old Chemist from Campbeltown, Argyllshire when he attested on 25th May 1900, he was specifically enlisted as a compounder of medicines. He only served for a total of 1 year and 253 days ending on 1st February 1902 on termination of his period of engagement. The medal and 3 clasps are confirmed on the medal roll. On 20th May 1902 he commenced his service in The Imperial Light Horse (#3302) which ended 11 days later on 31st May 1902 during this time he qualified for the Kings South Africa medal with a single clasp, South Africa 1902.
