Medal Group of Three to a Private in the Northamptonshire Yeomanry who then Served as an Officer in the Home Guard During the Second World War, British War and Victory medals, ‘1956 PTE. C.R. GREEN NORTH’N YEO’, Defence medal in named carboard box of issue, ‘MAJOR C R GREEN, 18 HAWTHORN ROAD, KETTERING, NORTHANTS’ with issue slip for a single medal. With Great War period photograph of Trooper Green in uniform on horseback, some loss to the top of the photo. Charles Reginald Green was born on 1st December 1896 in Far Cotton, Northampton. He was awarded a pair of medals for his Great War service and post war he worked for the railway, information with the medals indicates he was a Ticket Inspector at Kettering station. During the Second World War he served as a Major in the Home Guard. He died in Kettering in April 1970.

Third Reich Transitional SS (Schutzstaffel) Dress Dagger by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, good example of a transitional pattern RZM dress dagger with ebony grip having aluminium eagle and enamel SS runes. Typical RZM plated fittings to the grip mounts and the scabbard mounts. Double edged blade with motto ‘Meine Ehre heist Treue’, reverse with Carl Eickhorn trademark and RZM ‘941/38’ and SS runes. The blade measures 22cms, overall 38cms. Some wear to the exterior fittings which is typical of RZM pieces. Cracks to the lower and upper mounts. The transitional SS daggers are much harder to find than those of the SA.

Queens South Africa Medal to a Recipient Who Served with the Leeds Company Volunteer Medical Staff Corps, medal with 3 clasp, Cape Colony, Wittebergen and South Africa 1901, impressed naming, ‘13378 PTE. W.E. SPEIGHT R.A.M.C.’, ghost dates visible on reverse of medal. illiam Ewart Speight was a 20-year-old Analyst from Leeds when he attested for service in the Royal Army Medical Corps on 26th February 1900. He served for 1 year and 285 days before his discharge on 7th December 1901. The medal and all 3 clasps are confirmed on the medals rolls for the Leeds Company Volunteer Medical Staff Corps, he served with 21st Field Hospital and No.10 General Hospital. On his return to the UK, he resumed his analyst work and is shown as being a chemist at a sewerage works on both the 1911 Census and the 1939 Register.

Great War Medals for Service in the Mercantile Marine, Mercantile Marine War medal with British War medal, ‘ALFRED LEE’. Collectors notes with these medals attribute this group to Alfred Lee, 1st Engineer on the trawler St Lawrence who was lost at sea on 3rd October 1914 but research has indicated at least 1 other individual with this name.

Queens South Africa Medal to the Royal Army Medical Corps, with three clasps, Cape Colony, Transvaal and Wittebergen, ‘11462 PTE. J. HOLT R.A.M.C.’ riginally from Burnley, Lancashire, James Holt, an 18-year-old weaver attested for the Medical Corps on 3rd May 1897. He served for 2 years and 255 days in South Africa serving with 10th Bearer Company and 25th Field Hospital before he transferred to the reserve back in the U.K. on 26th December 1902. Medal and 3 clasps is confirmed on the roll and he is also entitled to the Kings medal with 2 clasps. ames Holt also served during the Great War in Salonica and Italy.

Scarce Victorian 78th (or The Ross-shire Buffs) Highlanders Officers Shoulder Belt Plate Pre-1859, rectangular seeded gilt plate with burnished edges, mounted with a silver Victorian crowned laurel sprays with Elephant over ’78’ to the centre. Above the crown, a silver scroll battle honour for ‘CUIDICH’N RHI’, bottom of the plate has battle honour scrolls for ‘MAIDA’, ‘ASSAYE’ and ‘JAVA’. Reverse retains original two hooks and two studs fittings. Remains in generally good condition.
