A Second World War Long Service Medal Group of Six to the Leicestershire Regiment, 1939-45 Star medal, France & Germany Star medal, Defence medal, War medal 1939-45, unnamed as issued, Jubilee medal 1935, lightly engraved naming, ‘4849069 W.O.II (QMS) A D CHILTON LEIC R’, Army Long Service and Good Conduct medal, GV 1st type, with Regular Army suspender, ‘4849069 W.O.CL.II A.D. CHILTON LEIC. R.’ Group mounted for wearing with a space at the start of the bar suggesting a medal is missing. Lot also includes an R.A.O.B. Grand Lodge of England medal, the reverse engraved ‘BRO. A.D. CHILTON, BUENO VISTA, LODGE 4841’ and miniature medal bar with 3 medals and some additional ribbons present. Long Service and Good conduct medal announced in Army Orders April 1938.

Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Jawless Lion Head Officers Sword by Adolf Braun, Berlin, fine example of a silver plated officers sword with jawless lion head pommel, plain knuckle guard and black celluloid grip with wire binding. Plain cross guard and langet. SS style bullion dress portepee / knot attached to the grip. Housed in the original blackened scabbard. Slightly curved blade with makers trade mark to the base under the langet. The blade measures 75cms, overall 98cms. Scabbard ring absent, very tight fit to the scabbard, indicating possible replacement. Before the introduction of the standard SS sword degen, many German army swords were worn by SS officers, many either being silver plated or having the gilt finish removed, some examples have green jewelled eyes or the red like this example. Bullion sword portepee with black fleck, type associated with the SS. Housed in the blackened scabbard with single hanging ring. Plain curved blade with fuller to three quarters of the back edge. Makers trademark to the base under the langet. Blade measures 85 ½ cms, overall 107cms. Some wear to the scabbard and blade but still a desirable sword. Before the introduction of the standard SS sword degen, many German army swords were worn by SS officers, many either being silver plated or having the gilt finish removed, some examples have green jewelled eyes or the red like this example. R ALLEN R.A.M.C.’, unofficial rivet between Transvaal and South Africa 1901 clasps. alter Ralph Allen from Brighton, Sussex arrested for the Royal Army Medical Corps at the age of 20 on 22nd March 1901. He served for 1 year and 123 days in South Africa and was discharged on 22nd August 1902. edal and all 5 clasps are confirmed on the medal roll.
