Historically Interesting File of Post WW2 Documents Relating to Missing Personnel, interesting grouping of documents ‘Militärverhältnis’ (Military Situation), with civilian photographs and typed documents relating to their military service. 37 in total. Accompanied by a Deutsche Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross) armband. At the end of WW2 many service people were still to be accounted for and these type of documents were very important for the authorities to ascertain the fate of servicemen.

IMPERIAL GERMAN HESSEN LIEB GARDE INFANTERIE REGIMENT NR 115 PICKELHAUBE, good example of a officer quality NCO’s / 1 year volunteers pickelhaube in leather with its white metal Hessen helmet plate with starburst to the centre and additional scroll with honour date ‘1621’. Hessen pattern cruciform spike base with domed rivets, special pattern fluted spike for the state of Hesse. Special type other ranks style cockades for the state of Hesse and reichs pattern. White metal scaled chinstraps. Interior of the helmet with leather sweatband and cloth lining. Some inked details of the original issued owner to the inside. Some wear and crazing to the shell but still a good example of a hard helmet from the Imperial era to find.

WW1 German M-15 Prussian Uhlan Helmet, example of one of the late Ersatz all metal lance caps with correct small pattern Uhlan Prussian front plate, cloth field cockade, replaced leather strap. Leather liner to the interior and remains of the painted issue stamps to the interior. Helmet shell would appear to have been restored / re-painted in our opinion. Small rust hole to the rear.

Candle Holder Made from Part of German Submarine (U-Boat) U-48, being a brass cog wheel mounted onto a circular steeped base with a crude plaque engraved ‘U-48’. German submarineU-48was aType VIIBU-boatoftheKriegsmarinein WW2, and the most successful that wascommissioned. During her two years of active service,U-48sank 51 ships for a total of 299,477 GRT and 1,060 tons; she also damaged four more for a total of 27,877 GRT over twelve war patrols conducted during the opening stages of theBattle of the Atlantic. She was taken off combat service and in 1945 she was scuttled on the bay of Lübeck, where she remains to this day.

Zinc side gromets. Interior with red cloth lining having ink stamp of the manufacturer, size stamp and date 1942. Some staining to the top and peak. Good sun bleached example.
