An Impressive ‘Frontiersman’ Long Service Medal Group of 11, Covering Great War Service in East Africa with Service in the Second World War and After, 1914-15 Star medal, ‘13567 L-CPL J.A. RICHARDS R. FUS.’, British War and Victory medals, ‘GS-13567 C SJT. J.A. RICHARDS R. FUS.’, 1939-45 Star medal, Africa Star medal, France & Germany Star medal, Defence medal, War medal 1939-45, Special Constabulary Long Service medal, GVI 2nd type, League of Frontiersmen Meritorious Service medal, impressed naming ‘CAPT J.A. RICHARDS’, League of Frontiersmen Loyal Long Service and Good Conduct medal, engraved naming ‘LT. COL. J.A. RICHARDS’. Group mounted as worn with small metal fixing rings on the reverse. John Albert Richards from Balham, London served with the 25th Battalion Royal Fusiliers (Frontiersmen) arriving in Africa with the Battalion on 4th May 1915. This is one of only 2 British Battalions that served through the whole of the war in the East African theatre arriving in Africa on 4th May 1915 and returning to England at the end of 1917. The Battalion was disbanded mid-1918.

Rare Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Dress Dagger by Ed Gembruch, Solingen, superb near mint condition example of a model 33 enlisted mans dress dagger with the grip having its original eagle and enamel SS runes inserted. The lower cross guard is stamped with district mark ‘I’. Housed in the original matching scabbard with near perfect bottom ball mount, just some light scratches to the finish. The dagger has a near mint condition double edged blade with much of the original cross graining still present. Blade with standard motto ‘Meine Ehre heist Treue’ and the reverse has the rare makers trademark of a fish for Ed Gembruch, Solingen. The blade measures 22cms, overall 37cms. Overall this is a superb example of an SS mans dress dagger by one of the rarest and hardest makers to find.

Queens South Africa Medal to the Royal Army Medical Corps, medal with 3 clasps, Cape Colony, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902, impressed naming, ‘15241 PTE. F. COLE R.A.M.C.’ rederick Cole was a 37-year-old Hospital Attendant from St. Pancras, London, when he attested for the Royal Army Medical Corps on 15th March 1901. He served for a total of 1 year and 169 days of which he was in South Africa for 1 year and 135 days serving at No.21 General Hospital. He was discharged on 2nd September 1902. Medal and all 3 clasps are confirmed on the rolls.

Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Dress Dagger by Gottlieb Hammesfahr, Solingen Foche, with ebony grip having nickel eagle and enamel SS runes. Rear cross guard stamped ‘III’. Anodised scabbard with patina to the fittings. Double edged blade with motto ‘Meine Ehre heist Treue’, the reverse with makers trademark. Small nick to the edge of the blade. The blade measures 21 ½ cms, overall 37cms. Generally good example.

Queens South Africa Medal to a Recipient in the Royal Army Medical Corps who Died of Disease at Pretoria in May 1901, Queens South Africa medal with 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal, ‘13658 PTE. C.R. ECK R.A.M.C.’ harles Roderick Eck was born in Valporaiso in Chile, South America and enlisted on 12th March 1900. He is shown as died of disease on 24th May 1901 in Pretoria. He is on the medal roll for No.7 General Hospital which confirms the issue of the medal with these 3 clasps. An additional roll shows entitlement to the South Africa 1901 clasp but indicates no entitlement to the Kings medal but he does also appear on the roll for the Kings South Africa medal with a note that the medal was returned on 18th February 1907.

Plate with three screw post fittings to the reverse.

Great War Medal Pair to an Officer in the Royal Army Service Corps Attached to the Royal Air Force, British War and Victory medals, ‘2. LIEUT. G.C.P. BIRCH’. Geoffrey Cecil Perigrine Birch was born in Kettering in October 1884, during the Great War he served with the 10th Battalion Royal Fusiliers (service number STK/30) landing in France on 14th August 1915 qualifying for the 1914-15 star. Commissioned on 10th November 1915 into the Royal Army Service Corps his records also indicate he was on attachment to the Royal Air Force. He died in Chichester in October 1933.

Rare Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Dress Dagger by Klittermann & Moog, Haan Solingen, fine untouched example of a model 33 SS enlisted mans dress dagger with the original grip having eagle and enamel SS runes. Reverse of the cross guard with ‘I’ district stamp. Housed in its scabbard with a three piece leather hanging strap. Near mint condition blade which retains much of the cross grain finish. This maker along with examples by Jacobs have the special pattern motto ‘Meine Ehre heist Treue!’. Makers trademark to the reverse of the blade. The blade measures 22cms, overall 37cms. Good patina to the exterior fittings of the dagger.
