Fine quality relief to the cross guard in form of hunting dogs finials and a seated stag to the centre. Clamshell guard with relief of a kneeling hunter. Housed in its leather scabbard with white metal mounts with acorn frog stud to the top fitting. Early plain long blade with makers trademark to the base. Good condition example.

Brass top pommel, cross guard with wild boar to the centre and hoof cross guard. Shell guard with oakleaves relief and stag within a hunting horn. Housed in leather and brass mounted scabbard with original skinning knife to the scabbard. Original brown leather frog hanger and brass acorn frog stud. Fine single edged blade with etched scenes to both sides of the blade. Stamped with the makers mark of Carl Kaiser & Co, Solingen to the forte under the guard.

Short pattern spike with brass plate. Interior with the original leather liner. Provided by the vendor was some original photographs said to be of the original owner, Trumpeter Max Mehlig, Kur R. 4 (Munster). Some rusting to the shell but generally still a good example of a lobster tail helmet.

Brass finished wartime period scaled chinstraps which have lost some of the brass finish. Officers state and reichs pattern cockades. Circular white metal spike base with securing stars and plain officers spike, all tarnished from the original white metal. Typical wartime period interior with a wide brown leather sweatband and cloth lining. The helmet is complete with an original officers cloth field / trench cover. Helmet is housed in the original pickelhaube storage / carry case. Overall a very good example of a wartime quality helmet for one of the most prestigious regiments in the Imperial German army. Please note this lot is stored in our USA warehouse and will be shipped to the winning bidder from the USA.

Helmet retains the original tan leather sweatband and part of the officers style cloth lining to the interior. Helmet shows some wear.

Officers leather sweatband and cloth lining. Some staining to the shell and dulling to the fittings but generally still a good officers helmet.
