#404 – Rare Imperial German Automobile Association Dress Dagger (Лот: 12150)
Rare Imperial German Automobile Association Dress Dagger, fine example with undamaged bone grip having two bands of wire binding circulating the grip. Pommel in the form of an Imperial crown. Cross guard having a gilt metal horn emblem to the centre. Housed in its brown leather scabbard with plated top and lower mounts. Fine double edged blade with etched decoration in form of foliage and Imperial eagle. Reverse of the blade has the makers trade mark for Ernst Pack. Some light areas of staining to the blade but otherwise a very nice example of a very rare German dress dagger. At the time of its formation and the issue of a dress dagger, the German automobile association was very small and only members of the aristocracy owned motorcars as they were a relatively new invention. The Kaiser was a strong supporter of the association and asked for owners of automobiles to be able to provide their vehicles and services for the Imperial German army if required.
