#237 – RARE WWII GERMAN LUFTWAFFE FLIGHT SECTION SCHELLENBAUM FLAG – LUFTWAFFE AIR BASE GRAILSHEIM (Лот: 5568)
RARE WWII GERMAN LUFTWAFFE FLIGHT SECTION SCHELLENBAUM FLAG – LUFTWAFFE AIR BASE GRAILSHEIM, fine yellow silk small pattern flag in the style of the Luftwaffe flight section regimental standard. Obverse with bullion embroidered Luftwaffe 2nd pattern eagle within wreath and the swastikas to the corners of each ray away from the centre. Edged in silver brocade lace and fringed in silver bullion wire. The reverse of the flag has bullion embroidered air station details, ‘Fliegerhorstkommandantur Grailsheim’ in gothic script. Flag is still complete with the original pole and metal finials. Attached to the flag pole is the original bullion covered holding strap which would attach to the eagles beak on the schellenbaum eagle top. The flag does have some light wear with minor areas of staining but all the silver bullion wire remains fresh and without oxidization. A real statement piece for any Third Reich collection.

#237 – WW2 British Glider Pilots Airborne Beret & Paperwork Archive of Corporal J Jennings 2nd Battalion the Glider Pilot Regiment (Лот: 10303)
WW2 British Glider Pilots Airborne Beret & Paperwork Archive of Corporal J Jennings 2nd Battalion the Glider Pilot Regiment, fine example of a 1943 dated maroon airborne beret produced by Kangol Wear Limited. Beret with leather trim, leather patch behind the gromet vents and remains of the white broad arrow stamp with date letter ‘N’. The beret is accompanied by a fine group photograph of No10 Glider Pilot Course R.A.F Booker 1942-43 photograph, where Jennings is identified sitting on the right hand side of the front row. Also with the lot are two RAF pilots flying log books which detail his training, firstly on Tiger Moth aircraft in 1942/43, then he moves onto the Gliders, such as the Hotspur Glider and later the famous Horsa I glider in early 1944, at this time he had been promoted to sergeant rank. Other items of ephemera include his Royal Air Force training note books and a regimental Christmas card. More modern items in the group include another airborne beret of post war manufacture with Glider Pilot Regiment cap badge fitted and a Battle of Arnhem commemorative 50th anniversary medal, believed that the beret was worn by Jennings at various post war ceremonies and veterans events. An interesting attributed airborne beret which is worthy of further research into what he participated in once qualified as a Glider Pilot.
