#168 – WW2 British Home Front MK.II Helmet, Siebe Gorman Ltd Factory Worker (Лот: 11914)
WW2 British Home Front MK.II Helmet, Siebe Gorman Ltd Factory Worker, Fantastic Home Front factory workers Mk.II helmet. This one made by ‘Joseph Sankey & Sons’ (JJS) and dated 1938 is an unbeatable example of a Mk.II helmet issued to a factory worker. The original khaki satin paint is exceptional with the gold, water slide decal for ‘Siebe Gorman & Co Ltd’ this company had an interesting wartime career, contracted to make the Civil Defence gas masks in its factory in Lambeth, London. Before being bombed out in 1941 and moving to Surrey. Due the decals London address of S.E.1, can only mean this helmet was likely to have been there during its ‘Blitz’ time in London. The liner is in good condition and dated 1940 and completed by an early style chin strap.

#169 – Impressive WW1 British Photograph Album and Diary Grouping Compiled by an Officer in the Middlesex Regiment on the Western Front, Mesopotamia and Palestine (Лот: 10235)
Impressive WW1 British Photograph Album and Diary Grouping Compiled by an Officer in the Middlesex Regiment on the Western Front, Mesopotamia and Palestine, the period album we would assume was put together from period photographs after the war as it begins with images taken in Palestine in the later stages of the war. Many good images of fellow officers, local scenery, natives in traditional dress, mules, destruction of enemy equipment etc. Then the album moves onto the journey to the middle east, including images of HMS Hampshire, views from Gibraltar etc. Many good images of troops with machine guns etc. The album then leaves the middle east theatre and towards the middle of the album are some really good images taken on the Western Front, including training with the PH gas hoods, Middlesex regiment officers in the trenches and behind the front lines, picture of a sniper with trench mounted sniper rifle, no mans land with barbed wire pickets, damaged French farmhouses and towns, graves of fallen fellow officers of the Middlesex regiment, etc. The album then moves back to Palestine but for a brief selection of more images from France, this mixture of order with the images would indicate that the album, like most, was compiled after the war was over. Accompanying the album is a large amount of images on card mounts, both large format and smaller, these are mostly of the time in Mesopotamia and Palestine. The album is accompanied by two hand written diaries, but these are not easy to make out, also a framed pre-war commission document for a Second Lieutenant Grenville Brend Tait. An interesting grouping with a lot of interesting images. Viewing strongly recommended.
