Queens South Africa Medal to the 7th (Leicestershire) Company Imperial Yeomanry, Queens South Africa medal with three clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal, impressed naming, ‘28079 PTE. T NEALE 7TH COY IMP: YEO:’ Medal and clasps confirmed on the roll, he is also entitled to the clasps South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902. Thomas Neale was from Market Harborough, Leicestershire and attested for service in the Imperial Yeomanry on 20th February 1901. He served for 1 year and 6 months before being discharged on 18th August 1902 aged 21 years and 6 months.

Third Reich SA (Sturmabteilung) Dagger by EP&S, Solingen with Dedication to the Blade, with light brown wooden grip having nickel silver eagle and enamel SA device. Nickel grip mounts, with the lower mount being stamped with Gau mark ‘Nm’. Housed in the original scabbard with worn three piece brown leather hanger. Blade with motto ‘Alles fur Deutschland’, reverse with makers trademark and a engraved four line dedication ‘SA-OBERGRUPPENFÜHRER HERZOG IN HERZLICHER ALTER KÄMPFER KAMERADSCHAFT 30-10-1936 ADOLF KOL SA – GRUPPE MITTE’. The blade shows wear and has pitting. The blade measures 22 ¼ cms, overall 37cms. Dents to the scabbard and the lower ball mount on the scabbard.

US MODEL 1860 STYLE PRESESENTASION SWORD W/ PHOTO FROM A MEMBER OF THE 7TH REGIMENT NEW YORK CAVALRY. This sword has a 3 branch brass guard w/ a dark leather grip w/ wire wrap (honest wear), the ricasso is unmarked & the blade which was double engraved has had 90% of its engraving expertly removed for some reason, the iron scabbard has a fair amount of rust has brass mounts (lower one dented) w/ the top one being finely engraved ‘Presented to: Lieut. D. Beebe From West Troy friends Nov. 7th 1861′, this comes w/ a partial leather knot. The albumin photo is 7 ¼’ x 6′ and is oval as is the frame 10 ½’ x 8 ¾’, hand signed by him ‘Most Respectly yours Dillard Beebe’, shows him in full uniform (frock coat coat, hardee hat by his side, & holding a cavalry sword but not this one), this is in a period frame. This needs to be researched, a great archive, VG+

Indian Mutiny Medal to the 7th Hussars for the Siege of Lucknow, Indian Mutiny medal 1857-59, with clasp Lucknow, impressed naming, ‘TROOP SERGT MAJOR EDWD DALTON 7 HUSSARS’.Confirmed on the medal roll for the 7th Hussars with note ‘Services in the field in Oude East Indies from 4 Feby 1858 to 1st October 1858 including the siege of Lucknow 2nd to 16th March. o.962 Edward Dalton from Merton, Surrey attested for the 7th Hussars at Westminster on 6th December 1845. Promoted to Corporal on 3rd January 1852, Sergeant on 1st August 1854 and Troop Sergeant Major on 6th August 1857 but was tried and demoted to Private on 9th June 1859 due to drunkenness. He was discharged on 21st August 1861 having completed 15 years and 248 days service and was in possession of 2 Good Conduct badges.

Queens South Africa Medal to a Recipient in the South Wales Borderers who was Killed in Action in 1914 Whilst Serving with the Royal Welch Fusiliers, Queens South Africa medal with three clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Johannesburg, ‘6001 PTE. C, HENNESSEY. S. WALES B:’ Cornelius Hennessey from Cork, Ireland attested for service in the South Wale Borderers on 13th August 1898 aged 18. He served for 12 years and 323 days including 2 years and 254 days in South Africa before his discharge on 12th August 1910. He was imprisoned for 14 days with hard labour in September 1905. During the Great War he was serving with the Royal Welch Fusiliers (service number 10940) was presumed killed on 30th October 1914.Cornelius Hennessy (sic) is remembered on the Menin Gate, Ypres. Medal and 3 clasps are confirmed on the roll of the 2nd Battalion, he is also entitled to the Kings South Africa medal and a 1914 Star trio for the Great War.

Third Reich SA (Sturmabteilung) Dagger with Name of Original Owner Etched to Blade, by Ed Wusthof, Solingen, good untouched example of an early pattern SA dress dagger with brown wooden grip, enamel SA device and nickel eagle. Housed in a early anodised scabbard with the top scabbard mount having a two piece brown leather hanger fitted. Double edged blade with motto ‘Alles fur Deutschland’ and makers trademark to the base of the reverse. Neatly engraved to the reverse of the blade is the name of the original owner, ‘Georg Reigs’. The blade measures 22cms, overall 37cms.

US NON-REGULATION OFFICERS SWORD, like a British 1827 model, scarce, ricasso is mkd. ‘W. Clauberg Solingen’, blade is double engraved w/ floral designs, ‘U.S.’, an eagle w/ ‘E. PLURIBUS UNUM’ etc., (well worn & dark), the open-work guard shows an American eagle, ‘U.S.’ w/ a bugle below, has a shark skin grip w/ copper wire wrap, comes w/ a well used gold bullion knot, has a black painted iron scabbard w/ brass mounts (has a lot of paint loss), the guard is loose, G+

Victorian South Africa 1834-53 Medal to the 45th (Nottinghamshire) Regiment for the 2nd and 3rd Kaffir Wars, South Africa medal, 1834-53, with impressed naming, ‘J. GRATTON 45TH REGT.’ rivate Jacob Gratton seems to have had an interesting time in South Africa having been tried by Court Martial for drunkenness on at least 5 occasions, 5th August 1853, sentenced 4 months hard labour, 20th December 1853, sentenced 84 days hard labour, 16th April 1857, sentenced 90 days hard labour, 26th July 1856, sentenced 56 days hard labour and 28th July 1858, sentenced to 84 days hard labour.

A Great War Naval Long Service Medal Group of 4, HMS COLUMBINE, 1914-15 Star, British War and Victory medals, ‘346239 W.T.N. JAMES SHPT.2. R.N.’, Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct medal, GV 1st type, ‘346239 W.T.N. JAMES, SHIPT 1. H.M.S. COLUMBINE’. Group mounted as worn, some slight contact wear to service number on British War medal. William Thomas Nigel James was born in Portsmouth on 6th December 1888 and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy Shipwright in Portsmouth Shipyard on 10th July 1903. Awarded his Long Service medal in December 1921 he was pensioned off on 5th December 1928. He rejoined on 18th October 1939 serving through the Second World War until he was released on 20th November 1946 and would be entitled to additional medals for his service.

DONALD RLY: PNR: REGT’ with Kings South Africa medal with 2 clasps, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902, ‘874 PTE. W. DONALD RLY: PNR: REGT’. William Donald attested for service on 11th January 1900 and was discharged at Johannesburg on 10th January 1902. He is confirmed on the 1st Railway Pioneer Regiment roll for both medals and clasps.

Third Reich SA (Sturmabteilung) Dagger by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen with Gilded Motto and Makers Trademark, interesting example of a standard SA dress dagger with brown wooden handle having nickel silver eagle and enamel SA device. Fine condition grip mounts with the reverse of the lower guard being stamped ‘Nm’. Housed in the original scabbard with single hanging ring. Denting to the ball of the lower scabbard mount. Good condition double edged blade with the motto ‘Alles fur Deutschland’ which has been gilded, as has the Carl Eickhorn makers trademark to the reverse. Interestingly on the obverse of the blade near the lower cross guard is the remains of another stamp. The blade measures 22cms, overall 37 ½ cms. Page 296 & 297 of ‘The Service Daggers of the SA and NSKK’ by Siegert, shows a SA marine dagger with a gilded motto.
