Unit was formed in 1938 from two Infantry Brigades for security details in Palestine and remained there until February 1940 when it was broken up.

Each replica is cast and hand finished in a similar process to the original medals and is engraved a with a unique number commemorating one of the actual medals awarded from its inception in 1856 up until the 150th anniversary of the Victoria Cross in 2006.

The interior has the remains of the leather chinstrap. Leather liner being a post war replacement. We are of the opinion that the shell is a relic out of Eastern Europe which has had the wire basket and liner added at a later date.

Complete with a brown leather frog. Polished blade having sawback edge and screwdriver flat tip. Stamped ‘GES GESCHUTZ’ to the base of the blade under the cross guard. Blade shows some wear, scabbard with some scuffing and light surface rusting. Generally good condition example. Blade 26 ¾ cms, overall 41cms.
