Rare WW2 24th Indian Infantry Brigade Cloth Formation Sign, embroidered yellow winged lion of St Mark on red felt rectangle. Badges on Battle Dress by Jon Mills, M10, states The winged Lion of St Mark has been attributed to 24th Indian Infantry Brigade which originally served with 6th Indian Division until it dispersed in October 1944, the 24th remaining as an independent brigade in Persia, Lebanon and Syria until disbanding in Aleppo in January 1946. It is possible that this sign was worn by the independent brigade.

Grouping of Ephemera Relating to Lieutenant Colonel N H Waller Gloucestershire Regiment, including senior officers course notes, secret maps etc 1917, Gloucestershire regiment reunion dinner items, college letter dated 1900, medal ribbons and issue box with his name label ticket, copy of gazette entry from 1918 and a poignant letter expressing condolences after the death of his son in 1940 serving with the 5th Gloucesters.

Scarce WW2 German Luftwaffe Forestry Bayonet / Fighting Knife, fine untouched example of the Luftwaffe forestry service issue knife with two piece stag horn grips, short oval steel cross guard numbered ‘230’ to one side and the reverse ‘282’. Housed in its original blackened steel scabbard with the original leather bayonet frog attached which has the original cloth and bullion dress portepee / knot. Knife pattern blade stamped ‘WAFFEN-LOESCHE BERLIN’ and the reverse side ‘Ch. A. W’. Blade measures 20 ¼ cms, overall 34 ½ cms. Good untouched as found example.

THRIFT NORTH’D FUS’, Archibald Thrift transferred to the 10th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment and died in the UK on 25th April 1917 and is buried in Beckenham Crematorium and Cemetery; Special Constabulary Long Service medal, GV, 2nd type, mounted on pin, ‘WILLIAM G. MARTIN’; Miniature Afghanistan 1878 medal, indistinct silver hallmark to the rim.

The Commando was assigned to the4th Special Service Brigadeand served inNorth-west Europeand took part in theD-Day landings, as well as operations aroundOstendandAntwerp, before being disbanded after the war in January 1946.

WW2 Japanese Prayer Belt, fine example of a cloth waist belt with printed central slogan ‘with the protection of the body’, outline of Japanese order of the kite to one side and the other a type 90 steel combat helmet. Reverse with a number of the stitched prayers. Some areas of material loss but overall a good example.

US CIVIL WAR PERIOD UNION FIELD-GRADE OFFICERS OF RHODE ISLAND FROCK COAT, a dark blue doeskin w/ a double row of 9 gilted brass Sate buttons (2 are loose), a 3 /4 length with an off green satin lining, has an inside pocket w/ inside adjustable belt, has bellowed sleeves as is correct for this period & ea. cuff has 3 matching buttons, its collar is 1 ¼’ wide, its officer shoulder straps are 1 ¾’ wide X 4′, these are finely made of a gold & silver bullion, the center is a medium blue satin, is complete w/ its 4 matching buttons on its tails, at 1 point this was set-up to use epaulets (1 hook device is loose), a very clean & attractive coat, LOW EXC.

Blue leather covered grip with wire binding and blue leather covered scabbard with nickel silver fittings. Polished double edged blade with makers trademark to the base. The blade measures 16 ¾ cms, overall 26 ½ cms.
