Rare WW2 German Luftwaffe 2nd Pattern ‘Funeral’ Dagger by Robert Klaas, Solingen, interesting example of a 2nd pattern Luftwaffe dress dagger with the black grip having wire binding. Pommel with swastika to both sides, eagle cross guard. Officers dress knot / portepee attached to the grip. Complete with its original scabbard. Double edged blade with the makers trademark to the base. The blade measures 25cms, overall 42 ½ cms. The black grip Luftwaffe daggers by Klaas are known in collectors circles as the funeral dagger, but it is believed they were actually just a batch of daggers which had black grips which were painted white originally, some examples can be found with remains or all of the white paint finish.

Great War Memorial Plaque 2/7th Royal Warwickshire Regiment 1918 Casualty, bronze memorial plaque awarded to ‘DENNIS THORPE’, in cardboard folder of issue. 18-year-old Private Denis Thorpe died of wounds on 7th September 1918 serving as No. 43621, 2nd/7th Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He is buried in Aire Communal Cemetery, France.

Imperial German Prussian Blue Gilt and Damascus Presentation Officers Sword, fine example of an Imperial German model 1888 officers sword with brass hilt having Imperial Prussian eagle to the centre, shagreen grip with gilt metal cipher of Wilhelm II. The top pommel is engraved with initials of the receiving officer. Housed in its steel field service scabbard. The blade is of blue gilt and Damascus with the spine being engraved ‘J. ROBRECHT HOFLIEFERANT BERLIN’, the centre of the blade is etched with gilt foliage, trophy of arms and to one side a dedication ‘Backhard s/l Eschmann zur freundlichen Erinnerung 29.Oktober 1898′. Blade shows some wear with just the remains of the blueing to the panels but the gilt remains bright. Blade 32’.

US CIVIL WAR PERIOD UNION INFANTRY OFFICERS M-1858 HARDEE HAT NICKNAMED THE ‘JEFF DAVIS’ HAT, a black felt standing 6 ½’ tall, has a 3′ brim w/ cloth trim, the 2 ¾’ wide brown leather trim has a fair amount of damage & some loss, has maker label inside ‘Hortmann Bros. & Co. 5th Cherry St. Phila. / Military Furnishers’, comes w/ an officers gold bullion hat cord , a 2 ¾’ wide gold embroidered Infantry bugle w/ metal Regiment # ‘1’ all an a black velour oval sewn on the front & on 1 side is a #’ x 2 ¼’ black velour oval w/ an elaborately embroidered eagle etc. in fine gold bullion, the other side has a black plume (feather) w/ an attached general service eagle button, one of the better examples I have seen, overall VG++ – EXC

WW2 German Luftwaffe 2nd Pattern Dress Dagger by Waffenfabrik Max Weyersberg, Solingen, interesting example of a standard 2nd model officers dress dagger which has been fitted with a black celluloid grip with wire binding. Attached to the grip is a officers dress portepee / knot. Housed in the original scabbard. Plain double edged blade with makers trademark to the reverse. The blade measures 24 ¾ cms, overall 43cms. It is believed that only Robert Klaas had black celluloid grips.

BLACKMORE HAMPS R.’, British War and Victory medals, ‘2549 PTE. C. BLACKMORE HAMPS R.’, India General Service medal 1908-35, GV, with clasp Afghanistan NWF 1919, ‘200548 PTE C. BLACKMORE HAMPS R.’, group mounted as worn. With 2 hall marked silver medallions, ‘Territorial Army Hampshire, Lord Lieutenants Cup Football’ on the obverse the reverses being engraved ‘1927-28 WON BY’ the second bearing the inscription ‘1925-26 WON BY CPL C.J. BLACKMORE 4TH HANTS REGT’. Also with related EMPTY Second World War cardboard medal issue box addressed to ‘MR A L BLACKMORE, HEYTESBURY, WARMINSTER, WILTS’ with Army Council issue slip for 1 medal. ecil Blackmore served with the 1/4th Battalion in Mesopotamia from 18th March 1915. Served with the same Battalion in India attached to No.1 Motor Transport Company. Change of service number is confirmed on his medal index card.
