    SA MANS BROWN SHIRT, Obersturmann’s rank – Gruppe Niederschsen, a tan cotton having 2 pleated pockets (has award loops) w/ a 5-button front (nickeled silver), brown wool rank tabs w/ chain stitched unit number ’16/28′, complete w/ shoulder board & matching collar piping, comes w/ a multi-piece wool & rayon armband w/ its RZM label, shirt has no RZM label, this does have a lower stain, but condition overall is VG+

  • #10 – Fine Deluxe Pattern Imperial German Naval Officers Blue, Gilt and Damascus Dirk (Лот: 7199)

    Fine Deluxe Pattern Imperial German Naval Officers Blue, Gilt and Damascus Dirk, fine example produced by WKC, with gilt metal Imperial crown pommel and ivory grip having two bands of wire. Gilt metal cross guard having anchor to the centre cartouche, no release button to the cross guard. Attached to the grip is an original officers silver bullion wire dress portepee. Gilt brass scabbard with ornate roped scabbard ring bands, one side engraved with initials of the previous owner and the other side with an engraved anchor. The blade is of superior quality with fine Damascus pattern and blue and gilt decoration to three quarters. Blade decorated to one side with Imperial crowned trophy of arms, sailing ship and standard trophy of arms above. Reverse side of the blade etched with sailing ship, foliage and dedication in ribbon ‘FESTEN MUTH’S IN STURM UND GEFAHR’ (Firm Courage in Storm and Danger). Blade with small WKC knights helmet trade mark to the base. Overall the dirk is in good condition with nearly all of the blue and gilt finish remaining to the blade. The scabbard has some light wear and small dents with one screw missing to the throat. Blade 37 ¼ cms, overall 52 ½ cms. Ivory exemption declaration JVG9LJWW. WILIKINSON’, also with pin back ribbon bar. Military Cross, London Gazette 13th September 1918 – 2nd Lt. Arthur Buttle Wilkinson, R.F.A., Spec. Res. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He volunteered to go round the front line to obtain information which was urgently required. He had to crawl most of the way under heavy rifle and machine-gun fire, and succeeded in sending back most valuable information.Arthur Buttle Wilkinson served in France from 10th September 1917, not entitled to a Star.

    A Poignant Indian Mutiny Medal to the 2nd in Command of the 19th Regiment N.I. Who Committed Suicide Under a Fit of Temporary Insanity, medal with clasp Central India, impressed naming, ‘BT MAJOR W.E. MCPHERSON’. Walter Edward McPherson was born on the Isle of Wight on 21st October 1825, the son of Captain Philip McPherson of H.M.’s 46th and 17th Regiments. He was admitted as a Cadet in the Bombay Army at Poona India in 1841. Attached to the 5th Native Infantry in February 1842 he qualified as an interpreter in Hindustani in February the following year. Promoted Captain on 18th April 1854 and he served with the 24th Native Infantry during the Mutiny. Promoted to Major on 11th December 1861 and he committed suicide at Baroda on 2nd December 1864 in a fit of temporary insanity.Sold with some research.

    Naval General Service Medal Pair to an Officer for the Attack on Acre, Syria in 1840, Naval General Service medal 1793-1840, with clasp Syria, engraved naming, ‘JOHN COCHRANE HOSEASON LIEUT’ with St. Jean D’Acre medal 1840, silver fitter with Crimea type of suspension, unnamed as issued. ohn Cochrane Hoseason is confirmed on the roll for the N.G.S. with Syria clasp and for the silver St. Jean D’Acre. There are no signs of renaming on the N.G.S. and the style of engraving is typical of the period of issue but normally this medal is issued with impressed naming. orn on 28th August 1809 he entered the Navy on 20th July 1823, passed his examination in 1829 and obtained his first commission on 10th January 1837 on Rover. He was present on Cambridge for the operations in Syria. Promoted to Commander on 6th September 1844 he was in command of Inflexible 11th June 1846 until 28th September 1849. He retired 9th July 1864. John Cochrane Hoseason died in Dover on 26th June 1884.

    German 1919 1st (Peace) Pattern Deluxe Naval Officers Dagger with Damascus Blade, fine example of a 1st pattern naval offices dagger with flame pommel top, ivory grip with wire binding and cross guard with fouled anchor to both central cartouches. Housed in a deluxe pattern scabbard with fine hand chased decoration in form of oakleaves and acorns. The scabbard ring bands are deluxe roped pattern. Reverse of the scabbard has small hanging ring. Partially double edged blade with Damascus pattern the full length. Distributors trademark to the base of the blade being crossed swords and ‘G B &S’. Blade 24 ¾ cms, overall 41 ½ cms. Some denting to the scabbard, small stress crack to the grip towards the pommel and some general wear which is consistent with its age. Ivory exemption declaration B14ZQDK3.     1st Day of the Battle of the Somme Killed in Action 1914-15 Star Medal Trio to the Princess Victoria’s Royal Irish Fusiliers, 1914-15 Star Medal, ‘14737 PTE. W.J. THOMPSON R. IR: FUS:’, British War and Victory Medals, ‘14737 PTE. W.J. THOMPSON R. IR. FUS.’, with a polished 1891 crown. William James Thompson from Newtownards, Co. Down, Ireland served in France with the 9th (Co. Armagh) Battalion from 4th October 1915. He was killed in action on 1st July 1916 during the attack on Beaucorp. The Battalion began its advance across 600 yards of no man’s land 2 minutes before zero (7.28am). Coming under heavy machine gun fire they took heavy casualties before reaching the gaps in the British wire. The attack ground to a halt and they withdrew to their start positions by 8am. At roll call there were no Officers and just 80 men unwounded. James Thompson is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial, France.

    US MODEL 1850 FOOT OFFICERS SWORD, the ricasso is mkd. ‘P.D.L.’, the double engraved blade has a floral design etc. (shows a lot of hones wear & heavy rust at its bottom), the sharkskin grip has brass wire wrap, the pierced brass guard has a nice dark patina, comes w/ an elaborate gold bullion knot, the dark leather scabbard has brass mounts w/ only a few wear spots, the belt is an early white buff leather, , this sword is a step above normal so I am sure this officer had money! VG+

    Victorian Crimea Campaign Medal to Corporal William Greening, 4th Light Dragoons, Who Was Serving with the Light Brigade at the Time of the Famous Charge of the Light Brigade on 25th October 1854, Crimea medal with clasps Alma, Balaklava, Inkerman and Sebastopol, impressed naming, ‘CORPL W. GREENING. 4TH LT DRAGNS’. Dark patina to the medal. William Greening from Bridport Dorset, attested for the 4th Light Dragoons on 22nd December 1834 and served for 25 years and 261 days before he was discharged to pension at his own request on 1st October 1860 at the age of 46. During this time, he spent 6 years in the East Indies and 1 year and 10 months in East Turkey and the Crimea. He was promoted to Corporal on 1st December 1855.William Greening is confirmed on the Pay List of the 4th Light Dragoons as being on the strength of the Regiment for the whole of October (WO12/659). The medal rolls confirm the award of all clasps including the Balaklava clasp for 25th October 1854. Greening does not appear on the Absence from Muster Roll list for the period of the charge. Private William Greening, 4th Light Dragoons is listed in the Honour the Light Brigade book by Lummis and Wynn.Sold with copies of the relevant rolls and discharge papers.

    Imperial German Era Hunting Sidearm, fine large German hunting sidearm with large antler horn grips having brass large acorn devices to the centre. Brass top pommel, cross guard with wild boar to the centre and hoof cross guard. Shell guard with oakleaves relief and stag within a hunting horn. Housed in leather and brass mounted scabbard with original skinning knife to the scabbard. Original brown leather frog hanger and brass acorn frog stud. Fine single edged blade with etched scenes to both sides of the blade. Stamped with the makers mark of Carl Kaiser & Co, Solingen to the forte under the guard. The blade 41 ½ cms, overall 58cms.
