WW2 German Army / Waffen-SS Officers Prinz Eugen Pattern Dress Sword by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, good early example with gilt brass mounts, wire to the black celluloid grip, SS style eagle to the cross guard and down winged army pattern eagle to the top. Officers dress knot / portepee attached to the grip. Housed in its original blackened scabbard with single leather hanging strap dated 1937. Slightly curved blade with fuller to the back edge. Makers trademark to the base. The blade measures 82 ½ cms, overall 99 ½ cms. Fine untouched example. This Eickhorn Nr 1765 pattern of sword known as the ‘Prinz Eugen’ was carried by both German Army officers and also Waffen-SS officers serving in the Prinz Eugen division, sometimes these are found with original SS officers portepee’s attached.

Challenge Cup 1921 Tug of War Runners Up silver medallion, Crittal Athletic Club 1921 Rifle Leage medallion, engraved A.J.D. on the obverse. All contained in a hinged, glazed case.istinguished Service medal, London Gazette 10th March 1920 – HONOURS FOR SERVICES IN THE BALTIC, 1919. The KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of the following honours, decorations and medals to the undermentioned Officers and Men To receive the Distinguished Service Medal – C.P.O. Alfred Joseph Davis, O.N. 195828 (Ch.)he recommendation for this award states – HMS Dragon, Baltic 15th October to 23rd November 1919. Gunlayer of No.5 gun. When all his gun’s crew with exception of himself and the trainer had been killed or wounded by enemy shell, Chief Petty Officer Davis showed great coolness in assisting to extinguish the fire and remove the wounded. This Chief Petty Officer was previously recommended in 1918 in HMS Conquest when that ship was mined under No.3 gun of which he was gunlayer, for his action of throwing charges overboard and removing the wounded.lfred Joseph Davis was born in Chapeltown Yorkshire on 28th June 1880, he entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on Northampton. He is confirmed on the medal rolls for the China medal and Africa General Service medal and his Long Service medal was confirmed on 13th July 1913. His record confirms he was commended for good service when HMS Conquest was mined on 16th June 1918. Demobilised to shore on 16th August 1920 he joined the Royal Fleet Reserve on 31st January 1921. By 1939 he is shown as a Sign and Poster Writer living in Dunmow, Essex with the responsibility of being an Air Raid Warden.

WW2 German Army Enlisted Ranks Sword with Personalisation by Alcoso, Solingen, standard enlisted ranks sword with steel dove head mounts, black celluloid grip with wire binding. Attached to the grip is an enlisted ranks knot / portepee. Housed in the original black scabbard. Polished curved blade with makers trademark to the base under the langet. The blade has a crude period engraving in memory of the original owner service with 2./Kav Regt 13 1938-1940. Inscription in the same style to the reverse of the blade also. Inscription not easy to read. Blade 82 cms, overall 96cms.
