WW2 German Army Officers Sword by Robert Klaas, Solingen, good example of a dove head pattern army sword with eagle to the cross guard langet, oakleaves relief to the knuckle guard, pommel and back strap. Black celluloid grip with wire binding. Finish worn from the ferrule. Housed in the original blackened scabbard with single hanging ring. Polished slightly curved blade with makers trademark to the base under the langet. The blade measures 77 ½ cms, overall 95cms.

US CIVIL WAR PERIOD UNION FORAGE CAP FOR A CHAPLIN, a blue doeskin 6′ tall in rear & 5 ½’ tall in front & the top has a 5′ diameter, a black patent leather visor which extends 1 ½’ & has matching chin-strap w/ eagle side-buttons, mounted through the top is a 1 ½’ tall nickel silver cross most likely field modified, has a dark green satin lining, the dark leather sweatband is 1 ½’ wide, this is an officers rank (makes sense since he is a Chaplin) as it has gold tress on front & gold trim on top, you know what they say ‘ there are no atheists in a fox hole’, overall VG+ – VG++

Stamped ‘GES GESCH’ to the underside of the cross guard. Housed in the original blackened scabbard. Slightly curved polished blade with makers trademark to the base under the langet. Blade measures 84 ½ cms, overall 99 ½ cms. Good untouched example.

Three part lower gilt scrolls with regimental details and scroll with battalion details. Three lug fittings to the reverse of the plate.

Educated at Chard and the Royal Military College Sandhurst he was commissioned into the Royal Munsters Fusiliers as 2nd Lieutenant on 29th March 1890. Promoted to Lieutenant on 1st April 1892 and Captain on 1st November 1898. He was employed with the Egyptian Army between 28th February 1899 and 31st May 1901 for which he was awarded the Khedive Sudan meal with clasp and the Order of the Medjidie. erved in South Africa from 1st August 1901 until 31st December 1901 with the Royal Munster Fusiliers and commanding Damant’s Horse. He was dangerously wounded at Tafelkop on 20th December 1901, this eventually led to his retirement as medically unfit for further service in June 1905. Whilst recovering he was promoted Brevet Major on 29th January 1902. The Queens South Africa medal with 5 clasps is confirmed on roll for the Royal Munster Fusiliers, he also appears on the Damant’s Horse Roll.e was re-employed for the Great War between 15th September 1914 and 25th June 1919, serving in France from October 1915. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order and Mentioned in Despatches on two occasions.e died in York, England, on 13th May 1942.

Is a blue wool 6′ tall in rear & 4′ tall in front & the top diameter is 5 ½’, is black patent leather visor (badly crazed) extends 2′ & has a matching chin-strap w/ eagle side-buttons, on top is a brass 3 ½’ bugle, company ‘K’ letter & ’43’ regimental numbers, comes w/ his Muster-Out roll for the date of June 12th in 1865., inside has a polished black cotton lining w/ a 1 ½’ wide brown leat6her sweat band, some crown wear etc. but overall VG++

The blade measures 82 ½ cms, overall 97cms. Some plating wear to the blade, exterior nice untouched dark patina.
