WW2 Royal Air Force Medals, Log Books and Archive of Sergeant K S Fish (Fisher) Air Gunner with No223 Squadron in North Africa and Malta,the medal group consists of 1939-45 star, Atlantic star, Africa star with North Africa 1942-43 bar, Defence medal and 1939-45 War medal with MID oakleaf. The log book being a pilots type, covers his service with training in 1943 and then operationally with No223 squadron with many operations noted in short period of time. Other items in the group include many photographs during his service, various service and release books, documents both wartime and post war (some being of civilian life which refer to him as Fisher as opposed to Fish). Framed display with a pilots wing and air gunners brevet, caricature picture of him , two watercolour paintings of wartime scenes and large framed aircrew silk map of North Africa. An interesting grouping worthy of further research.

Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Lion Head Officers Sword by Alcoso, Solingen, good lion head pattern officers sword with jewelled ruby eyes, silver plated mounts (possibly originally gilded and worn off), black celluloid grip with wire binding. Bullion sword portepee with black fleck, type associated with the SS. Housed in the blackened scabbard with single hanging ring. Plain curved blade with fuller to three quarters of the back edge. Makers trademark to the base under the langet. Blade measures 85 ½ cms, overall 107cms. Some wear to the scabbard and blade but still a desirable sword. Before the introduction of the standard SS sword degen, many German army swords were worn by SS officers, many either being silver plated or having the gilt finish removed, some examples have green jewelled eyes or the red like this example. Queens South Africa Medal to the Royal Army medical Corps, medal with 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902, impressed naming, ‘15333 PTE. W. R ALLEN R.A.M.C.’, unofficial rivet between Transvaal and South Africa 1901 clasps. alter Ralph Allen from Brighton, Sussex arrested for the Royal Army Medical Corps at the age of 20 on 22nd March 1901. He served for 1 year and 123 days in South Africa and was discharged on 22nd August 1902. edal and all 5 clasps are confirmed on the medal roll.

#59 – Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Enlisted Ranks Sword by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen (Лот: 7248)
Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Enlisted Ranks Sword by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, being an army pattern enlisted ranks dove head type sword with SS runes etched to the langet, steel fittings with celluloid grip having wire binding. Reverse of the langet stamped ‘S.D. 540’. Housed in the blackened curved scabbard. Curved polished blade which is etched with the SS motto ‘Meine Ehre heist Treue’ and with Carl Eickhorn makers trademark to the base. The bottom section of the blade is well worn without polish. Blade 84 ¾ cms, overall 102cms. Wear to the exterior fittings with plating loss and small dents to the scabbard. Various designs and styles of these swords were produced in the early stages of the Schutzstaffel before the introduction of the standard SS sword degen. Queens South Africa Medal to the Royal Army Medical Corps, medal with 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902, impressed naming, ‘14870 PTE. W. MATTHEWS R.A.M.C.’ unofficial rivets between Orange Free States clasp and Transvaal clasp. alter Matthews is confirmed on the roll compiled at No.8 Field Hospital at Bloemfontein and is entitled to these 5 clasps. He also served in the Great War with 4th Field Ambulance qualifying for a 1914 Star trio.
