#40 – Rare Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Dress Dagger with Full Ernst Röhm Dedication on Artificial Damascus Honour Blade (Лот: 7229)
Ставки принимаются через менеджераRare Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Dress Dagger with Full Ernst Röhm Dedication on Artificial Damascus Honour Blade, the dagger is what would be described as fresh out of the woodwork and has never been cleaned or played with. The stained grip has the original early type eagle but the SS runes have been removed. All the early fittings have a uncleaned patina with areas of Verdigris. The scabbard has some surface rusting to the anodised centre. Original leather vertical hanger attached with single belt loop fitting. The grip fittings are stamped with a ‘S’ in a circle to the interiors. Reverse of the guard is stamped with ‘I’. The double edged blade is produced with an artificial Damascus pattern with the motto ‘Meine Ehre heist Treue’ within oakleaves and the reverse has the full Ernst Röhm dedication ‘In herzlicher Kameradschaft Ernst Röhm’ (In heartfelt comradeship Ernst Röhm). The blade has no makers mark. The blade tang has raised ‘936’. Originally the motto and dedication was possibly with gold leaf but this has worn away. The blade measures 22cms, overall 37 ½ cms. The honour dagger of Ernst Röhm was instituted in 1934 and was issued to SS members who had served before December 1931 and had continued service until this date. After the night of the long knives an order was given to remove this dedication from the blade so to find complete examples are extremely rare. It is believed that only 9,900 Röhm dedications were produced on SS daggers compared to 125,960 SA daggers.

COUZENS HAMPS R.’, small edge knock to War Medal. Ernest Couzens enlisted on 26th August 1914 and served with the 10th Battalion Hampshire Regiment in Gallipoli, landing on 5th August 1915. He was discharged on 18th January 1918 unfit for further service due to wounds and was issued with a Silver War Badge.

Ставки принимаются через менеджераRare Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Heinrich Himmler Dedication Dress Dagger by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, good untouched example of the rare SS Himmler honour dagger, being a text book early pattern dress dagger with the ebony grip having eagle and enamel SS emblem. The lower guard is stamped with the control workplace number ‘0’. Housed in the original early anodised scabbard which is fitted with a black leather vertical dagger hanger and long belt loop strap. Double edged blade with standard motto ‘Meine Ehre heist Treue’ and the reverse with the early small oval Carl Eickhorn trademark. The reverse of the blade has the full Heinrich Himmler honour dedication ‘In herzlicher Kameradschaft Heinrich Himmler’ (In heartfelt comradeship Heinrich Himmler). The blade shows some wear and has some surface staining. The blade measures 22cms, overall 37 ½ cms. Generally a good untouched as found example of a very rare and desirable SS mans dress dagger. The Himmler inscription daggers were instituted in 1934 and were originally designated to commemorate members of the SS who took part in the Night of the Long Knives, where SA leader Ernst Röhm and 14 other high ranking SA officials were removed from power. Although originally an order was placed with the firm, Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, who is the only maker of this type of dagger, it is estimated that about 2,500 were produced. It is believed that these daggers were also issued to SS members who showed high loyalty to Heinrich Himmler.

Small holes to the edge for fixing to lance helmet.

P.W. TUCKER P.P.C.L.I.’ Born in London on 23rd August 1892, 22 year old Percy Tucker was living in Sherbrooke, Quebec when he attested for service at Valcartier Camp on 25th September 1915. He landed at Plymouth on 16th October 1914. Having completed his training on Salisbury Plain he landed at Rouen on 16th February 1915. He died of wounds from a GSW to the left thigh at No. 7 Casualty Clearing Station on 21st August 1915 and now rests in an identified grave in Merville Communal Cemetery. His medals issued to his brother living in Vauxhall, London.

JEROME R.A.M.C.’John William Jerome was born in Colaba , Bombay on 11th November 1856. Educated at King’s College he took the diplomas of M.R.C.S. Eng and L.S.A. in 1880 and joined the Army Medical Services as a Surgeon in 1882. Promoted to Surgeon-Major in 1894 he was made Lieutenant-Colonel in February 1902 and retired on 15th October 1902. He died in Norwood, London on 9th September 1912. Medal and all 3 clasps confirmed on the medal roll.

He also served as 28973 in the Shropshire Light Infantry attached to the Hereford Regiment. He was discharged to Class Z Army Reserve on 16th April 1919.
