HETHERINGTON SEA HIGHRS’, British War and Victory medals ‘MAJOR F.H. HETHERINGTON’. Generally good condition. Military Cross, London Gazette 1st January 1918 – Awarded the Military Cross – T./Lt (A /Capt) Francis Herbert Hetherington, Sea Highrs. Also served in the Royal Engineers and applied for his medals in December 1925 from Monteal, Canada, returning to the UK in May 1933.

Ставки принимаются через менеджераThird Reich NSKK Dress Dagger Attributed to SS-Obergruppenführer Hermann Höfle, Who Played a Vital Role in Suppressing the Slovak National Uprising, Later Being Trialled and Sentenced to Death for War Crimes, this dagger being an enlisted mans type with a light brown wood grip, having nickel plated eagle and enamel SA device. Both the upper and lower cross guard mounts have been beautifully hand chassed with an leaf pattern. The dagger is housed in its original scabbard, where once again the mounts have been hand chased. The reverse of the top scabbard mount is engraved in gothic lettering, ‘Hermann Höfle nskk-mün. 17.aug.1934’. Standard blade with motto ‘Alles fur Deutschland’ and the reverse with the makers trademark for J P Sauer & Sohn, Sühl. The blade shows some wear with staining and oil marks. The blade 21 ¾ cms, overall 38cms. Hermann Höfle was born on 12th September 1898. The son of a postal official, he enlisted in the Bavarian army in 1916, serving with Infantry regiment Nr8. He transferred to the Imperial German Air Service later in the war, where he served as an Observer. After WW1, Höfle served in the Freikorps and later with Ernst Rohm, was present at the Beer Hall Putsch. He officially joined the SA (Sturmabteilung) in the 1930’s. From 1934-1937, he was part of the NSKK in Munich, rising through the ranks of the NSKK through to 1943. At the request of Heinrich Himmler, Höfle left the NSKK and joined the SS (Schutzstaffel) where he became a SS-Obergruppenführer in an administration role. He was serving in Slovakia and was a pivotal player in the suppression of the Slovak National Uprising in 1944. He was arrested by the Czechoslovakian authorities after the war and was put on trial along with Hanns Ludin and both were sentenced to death and executed on 9th December 1947, it is believed however that he may have died in custody earlier than this date.

Ставки принимаются через менеджераAn Interesting Queens South African Medal to the Royal Army Medical Corps for the 2nd Anglo-Boer War to a Recipient who was later Discharged 3 Times for ill Health from Different Units During the Great War, Queens South Africa medal with 2 clasps, Cape Colony and South Africa 1902, ‘14513 PTE. H. HALSEY R.A.M.C.’ arry Halsey was a 19 year old college servant from Oxford when he attested for service in the Royal Army Medical Corps on 29th August 1900. He had 2 periods of service, totalling 193 days, in South Africa before he was invalided home in June 1902 due to the effects of rheumatic fever. He transferred to the reserve on 3rd September 1903 and was mobilised for service on 6th August 1914, he was discharged 13 days later as being no longer physically fit for service. In 1931 he applied for an Army pension stating that he served through the whole of the Great War initially as #8275 Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and then as #292578 Royal Garrison Artillery. 8275 Henry Halsey was discharged from the 2nd OBLI due to sickness on 31st May 1915 having earnt a 1914-15 trio and a Silver War Badge, 292578 Henry Halsey was discharged from the R.G.A. due to sickness on 19th December 1918 being awarded a pair of medals and another Silver War Badge! In 1939 he is listed as a General Clerk in an engineering firm and was also an Air Raid Warden. Henry Halsey died in Oxford in the last quarter of 1956.

He was discharged on 29th March 1919 being unfit for further service due to ill health and was issued with Silver War Badge number B158600.

Distinguished Conduct medal, London Gazette 17th April 1917 – G/3396 L./,Sjt. G. Rowe, Midd’x R. – ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He took command of his company, led them to their objective, and continued in command until relieved by an officer two days later. He has previously done fine work.’ George Rowe was from Shadwell, London and he served in France from 25th July 1915. He was discharged unfit for further service due to wounds on 12th November 1918 and was issued with a Silver War Badge. 15 Distinguished Conduct medals were awarded to the 12th Duke of Cabridge’s Own (Middlesex) Regiment during the Great War.

The fittings have a gilt / copper wash finish. Cross guard with district stamp to the reverse ‘Na’. Housed in its original scabbard with blackened centre and gilt copper wash fittings. Double edged blade with motto ‘Alles fur Deutschland’ and makers trademark to the reverse featuring a anchor for Albert Dörschel, Solingen. The blade 22cms, overall 37 ½ cms.
