Great War 1916 Military Medal and 1917 Second Award Bar Medal Group of 3 to 156th Field Company Royal Engineers, Military Medal, GVR, with second award bar, ‘98191 CPL E. EADE 156/F. COY R.E.’, British War and Victory Medals, ‘98191 SJT. R. EADE R.E.’Military Medal, London Gazette 16th November 1916 – 98191 Cpl. (Actg. Sjt.) E. Eade, R.E.Bar to the Military Medal, London Gazette 9th July 1917 – 98191 Sjt. E. Eade, R.E.Edward Eade was a 26-year-old Policeman living in Brighton when he attested for the Royal Engineers on 25th May 1915. He transferred to 156th Field Company on 10th August 1915 and went to France with them on 19th December 1915. He was wounded on 2 occasions, 12th August 1916 and on 24th December 1917 (GSW face), he returned to active service and was discharged to Class Z Army Reserve on 3rd February 1919. Edward Eade died in Bognor Regis on 12th May 1959.Please note that this recipient is also entitled to a 1914-15 Star Medal.

Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque Kings Own Scottish Borderers 1917 Casualty, bronze plaque awarded to ‘ALBERT JAMES NEWBY’, generally good condition. 10796 Sergeant Albert James Newby, 6th Battalion Kling’s Own Scottish Borderers who is recorded as having been killed in action on 23rd September 1917 but was most likely killed in the period 20th – 23rd September when the battalion attacked Hanabeke Wood and suffered Other Rank casualties of 26 killed, 200 wounded and 27 missing. Albert James Newby was never recovered and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.

Third Reich SA (Sturmabteilung) Dress Dagger by Wilhelm Kober & Co, Suhl, excellent example of a early pattern SA dress dagger with a light brown wooden grip having nickel eagle and enamel SA device. Lower cross guard mount stamped with gau district ‘Th’. Housed in anodised scabbard with a single brown leather hanging strap attached. Small areas of denting to the lower ball of the scabbard. Near mint condition blade with standard motto ‘Alles fur Deutschland’ and makers trademark to the reverse. The blade 22cms, overall 37cms.

Curved blade with etched crowned regimental title and Hawkes & Co London retailers mark. Housed in its original gilt mounted open front scabbard with fish skin covering to the centre. A Great War 1918 Military Medal to the 9th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, Military Medal, GVR, ‘7650 PTE. F. LIDDIARD. 9 LANC: FUS:’, couple of edge bruises. London Gazette, 28th January 1918 – 7650 Pte. F. Liddiard, Lan. Fus. (Birchvale). Born in 1887, Fred Liddiard, a resident of Birchvale, Derbyshire, served in the Balkans theatre of war from 11th July 1915. He was later transferred to France where he was awarded his Military Medal. He was discharged to Class Z Army Reserve on 15th March 1919.

Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque 1st Battalion South Wales Borderers 1917 Casualty, awarded to ‘GEORGE ALFRED BYE’, generally good condition. 44368 Private George Alfred Bye, 1st Battalion South Wales Borderers who was reported missing in action, presumed killed on 10th November 1917 at the age of 36. Originally from Brightlingsea, Essex he is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. Also entitled to a British War and Victory medal.

Edward VII Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal to a Drummer in the Devon Regiment, EVII issue with impressed naming, ‘7034 DMR: J. KEOGH. DEVON: REGT’. Good overall condition. James Keogh was born in Allahbad, India and served for 18 years in the Devon Regiment prior to his discharge at the age of 35 in July 1910. For his services he was awarded a 2 clasp India 1895 medal, a Queens South Africa medal with 5 clasps and the Kings South Africa medal with 2 clasps. His Long Service medal was announced I Army Order 254, July 1910. He re-enlisted for service during the Great War serving at home with the London Regiment and Royal Defence Corps. He re-attested in May 1919 and was sent to France for grave exhumations before being finally being discharged as unfit for service on 17th March 1920.

Third Reich SA (Sturmabteilung) Dress Dagger by Haco, Berlin, fine example of an early model SA dress dagger with light brown wooden grip having the original eagle and enamel SA device. Reverse of the lower cross guard is stamped with the gau mark ‘B’. Housed in the original early anodised scabbard with a three piece brown leather hanger attached. Some denting to the lower ball mount of the scabbard chape. Excellent condition blade with much of the original polish and cross graining remaining. Standard motto ‘Alles fur Deutschland’ and makers trademark to the reverse. The blade measures 22cms, overall 37cms.

Queens South Africa Medal to the Royal Army Medical Corps, medal without clasp, impressed naming, ‘13238 PTE. T.M CAMPBELL R.A.M.C.’ homas Murdock Campbell was a 23-year-old medical student from Glasgow when he attested for the Royal Army Medical Corps on 17th January 1900. He served in South Africa from 12th March 1900 until 12th February 1901, whilst in Africa he was appointed 1st Class Orderly on 1st April 1900. He was discharged at his own request on 20th February 1901. He appears on the medal roll for No.10 General Hospital and is shown as entitled to the Cape Colony and Orange Free State clasps.
