#310 – Rare WW1 German Other Ranks Field Grey Tunic (Лот: 10376)
Rare WW1 German Other Ranks Field Grey Tunic, very late war constructed tunic, probably 1918 period, from a vey coarse field grey wool, stitched in M-15 white piped shoulder boards for infantry regiment 238. Two lower pockets and a single upper breast pocket, very common to find on tunics from 1918 and into the early post war years. Tunic with field grey Prussian crowned buttons to the front and shoulders. Stitched down short turned back cuffs. The rear of the tunic has the belt band you see on a M-15 tunic but the buttons are now absent. Interior has the remains of ink stampings, but these are not clear. Very crude lining material to the interior of the tunic which would again lend its self to dating the tunic from the 1918 period. The tunic is complete with a original cloth red cross medics / stretcher bearers armband (brassard). Overall an interesting example of a late WW1 other ranks tunic.

The Reichsjägerhof Rominten in the Rominter Heide in northeastern East Prussia was one of two large forestry operations that were built during the Third Reich era it was intended to be used as a hunting lodge for the Reichsjägermeister Hermann Göring, but with the start of the Russian campaign in 1941 it was supplemented by the Robinson camp as his headquarters in the east.
The Reichsjägerhof in the Rominter Heide was completed in September 1936. Göring personally had ordered its construction in September 1935, after two years earlier Wilhelm II, who was living in exile in the Netherlands, had emphatically refused to allow him to use the Rominten hunting lodge in the former imperial hunting grounds. Originally, this complex was to be named Emmyhall after Göring’s second wife Emmy, similar to Göring’s estate Carinhall in the Schorfheide, but Göring ultimately decided on Reichsjägerhof Rominten . The construction site was located around 15 kilometers northeast of the small town of Goldap, in the area of the Nassawen Forestry Office . Construction work on the log cabin complex began at the end of April 1936 and was completed in September.mIn order to get to the facility, a small train station was built especially for Göring in Schakummen. In the autumn of 1944, in view of the approaching Russian front, Göring gave the order to destroy the complex (Operation Johannisfeuer). On 20 October 1944, the buildings were set on fire by the only remaining caretaker. The Reich Finance Minister Lutz Graf Schwerin von Krosigk reports in his memoirs that on the Mecklenburg estate of the oil magnate Henri Deterding there was a picture in a silver frame with the dedication: “To my dear Deterding in gratitude for your generous donation of the Reichsjägerhof Rominten. Yours, Hermann Göring” -
