#287 – Field Marshall Bernard Law Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, KG, GCB, DSO, PC, Black Royal Tank Regiment Beret and Associated Ephemera from The Montgomery Club Brussels (Лот: 6190)
Field Marshall Bernard Law Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, KG, GCB, DSO, PC, Black Royal Tank Regiment Beret and Associated Ephemera from The Montgomery Club Brussels, the famous black Royal Tank Regiment beret with bullion embroidered generals insignia to the centre and standard Royal Tank regiment beret badge. Leather trim to the beret. The black cloth interior with KANGOL WEAR LIMITED, broad arrow and date 1944. Beret is size marked ‘7’. The beret is accompanied by a selection of ephemera relating to the Montgomery Club in Brussels, snapshot photograph of Montgomery wearing his black beret walking in Brussels and copy of ‘Forward to Victory’ with the printed messages from Montgomery to the troops, inside front page with inked details of a former member of the famous Desert Rats. The grouping was all acquired together. Field Marshall Montgomery was made famous by wearing the black Royal Tank Regiment beret in public as opposed to a service dress cap like most Generals. He used to give berets to various staff, veterans associations and clubs etc. We believe this beret to be one of these types.
