#261 – THIRD REICH ALLGEMEINE-SS TUNIC (Лот: 5592)
THIRD REICH ALLGEMEINE-SS TUNIC, a fine private purchase large size tunic worn by a Sturmfuhrer in the race and resettlement unit. The tunic is constructed in the very finely ribbed tricot material with original single shoulder board for the rank of Sturmfuhrer through to SS Obersturmbannfuhrer. The collar has one blank collar patch and one with three pips, both edged in bullion wire. To the right hand sleeve of the tunic is an original wool and multipiece construction Allgemeine-SS tunic armband, below is an officers quality lozenge shape Odal rune, which indicates a member of the staff of the Race & Resettlement. Below the Odal rune at the top of the barrel cuff is a high quality Race & Resettlement officers quality cuff band, which reads ‘R.u.S.Hauptamt’. The tunic is the correct configuration for Allgemeine tunics having a double skirted back, four pockets, open collar style. To the upper right breast are two loops for a short medal ribbon bar with two loops on the pocket pleat itself for another award. Black cloth lining to the interior of the tunic. The arm has a purple ink stamp for a Munich (München) costumiers where this tunic was once the property of. After the war many costumiers and movie prop departments had original uniform and equipment which was captured or discarded after the war and in the 1960’s and 1970’s when the reaisation that these items were now collectible and valuable, many of these items were sold off.

The langet on this example with crossed cavalry swords and oakleaves. Knuckle guard with oakleaves relief. Black celluloid covered grip with wire binding. Housed in the original scabbard with single hanging ring. Fine polished blade with fuller to the back edge. Distributors stamp and Carl Eickhorn makers trademark to the base. Blade 30 ¼ ‘.

Helmet has much of its original combat paint finish and has regimental flashes of the Royal Irish Rifles to both sides. Helmet is complete with the original liner system and leather chinstrap. Pink brodie stamp to the underside of the liner. Good untouched example.

Original triangular bevo tunic eagle to the breast and tunic buttons. Partially lined interior to the tunic with an inked stamp to the interior pocket slit. Tunic shows honest combat wear.

Helmet has red painted ‘V’ insignia around the shell, being the regimental distinction of the Northumberland Fusiliers. Interior with split pins to the chinstrap mounts. Horsehair pad to the crown but no liner system.

RARE THIRD REICH ADOLF HITLER PERSONAL FUNERAL WREATH RIBBON, fine full length example of the red / orange watered silk funeral wreath ribbon with gold leaf ‘Der Führer’, bullion embroidered red backed eagle and other side with finely bullion embroidered Adolf Hitler personal standarte. Gold wire fringing to the bottom. Generally in very good condition and rare to find full length. These funeral wreath ribbons were personally bestowed on a wreath by Adolf Hitler and were only used for high ranking dignitaries or military heroes who died during the time of the Third Reich, an example was placed on the funeral wreath of Reinhard Heydrich.

WW2 British Officers Patrol Tunic of Lieutenant, Later Major Alan Lockhart McCall, Taken Prisoner in 1940, Made Numerous Escape Attempts Before Being Sent to the Famous Prisoner of War Camp Colditz, Where Again he Tried to Escape Before Being Liberated in 1945, blue four pocket Highland doublet patrol tunic with regimental buttons of the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. Above the breast pocket are medal ribbon bars for 1939-45 star and 1939-45 war medal with MID oakleaf. Tunic with gilt metal rank crowns to shoulders. Black cloth lining with the interior having the tailors label with inked name ‘A L McCall’. Remains in very good overall condition.Lieutenant McCall was Mentioned in Despatches for his wartime service, being listed in the London gazette on 20th December 1945. The recommendation for the MID was as follows, ‘Lieut Alan Lockhart McCall (95528) 1 Cameron Highlanders, 2 division. Following his capture at La Bassee, France, on 18 May 40, Lt McCall was imprisoned in Germany. With three other officers, Lt McCall tried in Aug 41 to escape from OFLAG VIIC (LAUFEN) by breaking through a wall from the inside of an incinerator for the third day’s work they were seen from a window by a German. Between Nov 41 and September 42 Lt. McCall assisted in the digging of four tunnels, all of which were discovered before completion. At EICHSTATT in June 43, Lt McCall participated in a mass breakout through a tunnel. After being free for 10 days he was caught and transferred to OFLAG IV C (Colditz), the persistent escapers camp. Here again Lt McCall worked on a tunnel for two months; this also was discovered before it could be used.On 16 Apr 45 he was liberated at Colditz by an American unit.’The prisoner of war camp at Colditz is one of the most famous prisoner of war camps of WW2. The camp was set up for the most persistent escapers, including the famous fighter pilot Sir Douglas Bader.
