Attributed Universal Pattern Georgian Infantry Officers Gorget, fine example of a universal pattern Georgian infantry officers gorget which retains much of the original gilded finish. Engraved to the centre is crowned GR cipher within laurel spray. Small crack to the rolle edge just above right hand side of the crown. The gorget is complete with the original buff leather covering to the reverse which has inked details of the original owner, ‘Lieutenant Robinson Craven Legion’. Generally very good example.he gorget is accompanied by some research provided by the current vendor, stating that a Josias Robinson is listed as the most senior Lieutenant in the 1st October 1804 War Office List. He was promoted to Captain on 27th April 1805. On conversion to local Militia in 1808, he is re-commissioned to Captain 24th September 1808. His name does not appear on the listed officers of the Craven Legion in 1825. local voluntary force known as The Craven Legion, part of the West Riding Yeomanry Cavalry and consisting of both cavalry and infantry, was raised by Thomas Lister, Lord Ribblesdale of Gisburn Park, who at that time was owner of the Malham Tarn estate.
