Third Reich War Service Cross 2nd Class with Swords and Award Citation Grenadier Regiment 945, good early example of the award retaining nearly all of the original bronzed finish. Complete with its ribbon. Accompanied by the original citation for the award issued to Gefreiten Otto Heinz 1./G.R. 945 on the 30th January 1945. The citation is signed by General and division commander, Knights Cross of the Iron Cross winner Josef Rintelen. Citation has fold lines but otherwise is a good complete set. Grenadier Regiment 945 was part of the 357th Infantry Division, which was a war raised unit from new recruits and remnants of other divisions which had seen heavy casualties. They served on the Eastern Front and surrendered to the Soviet Forces in May 1945, interestingly a lot of the high command of the unit surrendered to the US forces but the enlisted ranks were taken into Soviet Captivity.
