Historically Interesting WW2 German 1941 Invasion Maps of the United Kingdom, good volume set of the invasion maps produced for the event of a German invasion of the United Kingdom. The maps and charts are held in a large green folder with printed details to the cover. Inside is various maps and reconnaissance books with information which would have been needed if the German armed forces invaded the mainland British isles. Inside items remain in good condition, outer folder shows heavy wear and with tape repairs. The German’s planned to invade the United Kingdom after the fall of France in 1940, the plan was codenamed operation Sea Lion. Hermann Goring tasked his Luftwaffe with aerial bombardment of the United Kingdom in the attempt to soften the UK’s defences. However in 1941 Adolf Hitler decided the more important objective was to advance his army east and wage war on the Soviet Union, Operation Barbarossa, so Operation Sea Lion was scrapped, not before these invasion maps were produced.
