The father Lawrence Albert Griffin was a career seaman, serving with the Merchant Navy as a Deck Boy from 1909 until he joined the Royal Navy. He served in various ships and rose to the rank of Lieutenant. The documents in the grouping include various discharge books, note books, and photographs relating to him and other family members. Also a nice small photograph album of his service on HMS Ascot as a Sub Lieutenant during WW1, this ship was the last to be sunk by a German U-Boat in WW1, he was not serving on the ship at the time. His son James Douglas Griffin served with the Fleet Air Arm in No805 squadron including a coloured certificate with signatures of members of the squadron, framed picture of him with his bullion Fleet Air Arm wing underneath, plus other items.
