Attached to the grip is an enlisted ranks knot / portepee. Housed in the original black scabbard. Polished curved blade with makers trademark to the base under the langet. The blade has a crude period engraving in memory of the original owner service with 2./Kav Regt 13 1938-1940. Inscription in the same style to the reverse of the blade also. Inscription not easy to read. Blade 82 cms, overall 96cms.

MARCHANT M.F.P.’ eritorious Service medal, London Gazette 3rd June 1919 (Peace Gazette) – P/618 Pte. (A./L./C.) Marchant, C. W. (Waltham Abbey). harles William Marchant served with the Military Mounted Police in France between 3rd September 1915 and 30th October 1915 when he then moved to the Egyptian theatre serving there from 1st November 1915 until 31st December 1917. The index card for his Meritorious Service medal indicates the medal was awarded for home service.

Ставки принимаются через менеджераScarce WW2 German Army Cavalry Regiment No14 Enlisted Ranks Etched Sword by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, good example of a cavalry enlisted ranks / NCO’s sword with plated steel mounts, celluloid grip with wire binding, small crack to the celluloid. Attached to the grip is a other ranks pattern portepee. Curved blade etched with pattern and blued panel having regimental details, reverse of the blade etched with scenes of cavalry troops on horsebacks and army eagles to both sides. Carl Eickhorn makers trademark. Blade 76cms, overall 89 ½ cms. Blade with some surface staining / pitting. No scabbard. Actual WW2 / Third Reich period etched sword blades are much harder to find than those of the Imperial German army.

Note spelling of Regiment on star, sold with research and colour photographs of grave. rnest Wiliam Martin lived in the village of Burwash in East Sussex and enlisted in Hastings. He served in France from 18th December 1915 and died on 14th November 1916 serving in ‘B’ Company. 24-year-old Ernest Martin now rests in Martinpuich British Cemetery, France as well as being remembered on the Burwash War Memorial and on a plaque in St Bartholomew’s Church, Burwash.
